So, someone who shall remain nameless (unless you want me to reveal your identity! But I'm guessing not since you sent this to me privately) sent me a short response to my last post that really moved me... I guess its something that we all know is true, but we tend to forget until someone points it out to us. And since this trip is about me getting to know a small part of the world, and a small part of myself, I feel that this in particular needs to be recognized. Please read it and know how true it is.
"The following was composed to go as a blog comment, then I realized I'd probably offend the worriers:
Worry is always a waste of energy. Work on removing it from your emotional vocabulary. Yes, plan for the future and prepare for what could go wrong... but don't waste precious resources WORRYING about it. Think about this -- what does worrying accomplish? Nothing. Not a single thing, except to make it impossible to enjoy the moment."
To the person who wrote this to me: Thank you, very much... You really have no idea how much this helped me today. I didn't realize it, but worry truly has held me back from enjoying many aspects of my trip... Its harder to let go of than I realized, but I think now that its been specifically shown to me I can work on it more effectively. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Truly.
